Nutty for Nutmeg
It’s Fragrant Friday! Today I'm kicking off the holiday season by creating a custom blend for Thanksgiving, a scent of all things spicy with upbeat, holiday-mode properties. I’m using the sweet, nutty essential oil of Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans). When I first started blending with Nutmeg, I thought the label read "mysterious fragrance." My name-game tag has stuck with me, partly because this spice blends so beautifully with non-spice oils, and plays nice with its subtle aroma. Today I’m blending it with a little Lemon, Oakmoss, and for a seasonal twist, Clove and Cinnamon. Fun Fact: Nutmeg was often used during the Elizabethan era to treat plagues across Europe. Me? I’m just using it for the invasion of family that will be plaguing me next Thursday. (Just kidding: I’ll be counting my blessing as I diffuse this warm blend next week.)
(Family: Spices; Smell: Rich, sweet, woody; Color: Clear. Properties: Arthritis, fatigue, muscle aches, nausea, neralgia, poor circulation, slow digestion, and a definite lifter when paired with other spices.)
