Bringing Bistro Home
Don't you just love that Eureka! moment when you find what you've been dreaming of? No, I don't mean George Clooney, I mean these authentic "St. Germain" French bistro chairs — perfect in color, size, style, and comfort factor. The cane and wicker construction is a rendition borne of the original Thonet No. 14 chair, created in the mid-1800s and considered the first mass-market consumer chair. And for good reason: It's a light weight yet sturdy and comfy seat. Since my dining table is more informal than not, with a red-hued maple top, these will fit perfectly, adding some panache to a rather mundane pass-through dining area. Now the dilemma is finding them locally to avoid shipping charges (not to mention a ludicrous price tag online). Can't wait to be further inspired to drag out the cookbooks and throw down some bistro-style foodables to match!
