Beyond the White Bath

I've never been much for cookie-cutter, it's-all-gotta-match rooms, including baths. I like what I like, including placing unusual items in unexpected places just so I can have a moment's joy each time I see them. When it comes to my bathrooms, I strive for an uncluttered, spa-like space with the feel of a bathing retreat, and aim to get there my own way with lush towels, lots of aromatics (naturally), and a few touches of French-inspired decor for a little extra personality. I've never been an all-white room kinda girl, but I've fallen in love with this photo because it really is more than just a lovely spa-inspired bath. I think it's the unique combo of classic (the framed Da Vinci sketch), the country (the iron table), the sleek (marble floors), and the cottage (that fabulous bead board) that speaks to me. I know my design style is a mish-mash, so this photo reminds me that out there are others who live like I do, tossing out the tame and building a room to include the beauty of their favorite things despite breaking typical rules of what should go together, and where.
